The hydraulic ordinary butt fusion welding machine is a "heavy-duty tool" in the hands of pipefitters. It's primarily used to weld together the ends of large plastic pipes (such as the common black PE water pipes or gas pipes seen on roadsides).
It's called "ordinary" because it prioritizes practicality and durability, lacking fancy electronic screens and relying entirely on the operator's skill and simple gauges.
● What are its components?
A standard set of equipment usually consists of four main parts working together:
Machine frame (four large clamps):
This is a steel base with several sets of large, ring-like clamps. Its function is to firmly hold the two pipes to be welded, preventing them from moving, and most importantly, ensuring that the two pipe ends are precisely aligned.
Hydraulic control box (power source):
This is its "heart." It has control levers and pressure gauges. When the operator pulls the levers, the clamps on the frame move the pipes forward or backward.
Milling cutter (trimming tool):
This is like a disc with blades. Before welding, it's inserted between the two pipes. When the motor rotates, it trims the pipe ends perfectly flat, like a mirror, ensuring a seamless weld.
Heating plate (large soldering iron):
This is a metal disc that generates high heat, coated with a non-stick material. Its job is to heat the pipe ends into a semi-molten, "pasty" state.
● How does it "join" the pipes?
The operation process is very straightforward, like doing a large-scale plastic craft project:
Clamping and alignment:
Place the pipes in the frame and tighten the bolts.
Trimming the ends:
Use the milling cutter to clean and flatten the pipe ends.
Heating and melting:
Place the hot heating plate in the middle, and use hydraulic pressure to press the pipe ends against it until the pipe ends start to soften and become pliable.
Joining and pressing:
Remove the heating plate and quickly press the two pipes together. The hydraulic system continuously applies pressure, allowing them to completely fuse together during the cooling process.
● Why is this "ordinary" machine so popular?
Durable and easy to repair:
This machine doesn't have complex computer motherboards, making it very reliable in harsh construction site environments with wind, sun, and dust. When it breaks down, the cause is easy to find, and a simple part replacement gets it back to work.
Intuitive operation:
Workers can tell how much force is being applied by looking at the pressure gauge, and the pipe moves with a simple push of the handle. It can be mastered entirely through experience and intuition.
High cost-effectiveness:
Compared to expensive, fully automatic models with data printing functions, this ordinary hydraulic butt fusion welding machine is more cost-effective and is the preferred choice for many small and medium-sized construction teams.
● Typical application scenarios:
Rural water conservancy:
Laying long plastic pipes for irrigation.
Temporary water supply at construction sites:
Setting up temporary pipelines at construction sites.
Ordinary municipal pipe networks:
The vast majority of non-pressure or low-pressure pipeline projects where strict data recording is not required.
